Zuni Inlay Jack-O-Lantern Brooch by Dale Edaakie
Everyone needs that ONE piece of jewelry for Halloween. It makes a festive time of year even more fun, and it goes far if you don't have a bonafide costume. This happy, snaggletooth jack-o-lantern pin is soon to become that one Halloween piece for someone. The brooch is by Zuni artist Dale Edaakie. It's expertly inlaid of orange spiny oyster, black lip oyster, and jet in silver.
We just think the rare piece is so great! After all, how often do you see American Indian jewelers creating Halloween jewelry? It is signed "Dale Edaakie" hallmarked multiple times on the back. The piece measures 2 3/4" in height x 2 1/4" in width.
The piece comes from the private collection of American Indian jewelry icon, Martha Hopkins Struever. "Marti" adored Halloween, her favorite color was orange, and she loved spiny oyster. What more could one want in a pin!
