Vintage Zuni Inlay Necklace by Ophelia Panteah

Unlike Ophelia's ill-fated character in Hamlet, who represented fragility and was often portrayed in pure white, this colorful Zuni inlay necklace is strong and bold, handmade for the woman who is self-assured enough to stand out. 

Why the Ophelia comparison you might ask? Well, because this vintage necklace was created by the talented Zuni artist Ophelia Panteah who makes unique and vibrant multi-colored jewelry inlaid of turquoise, coral, jet and shell in silver.

Ophelia's necklace is made with mosaic inlay in the center of each pendant and height inlay surrounding the perimeter of each pendant. What a cool technique that gives a contemporary edge! This isn't Shakespeare's Ophelia!

The necklace measures 19.5" from end to end and has an adjustable hook and eye closure. The center pendant measures 1 1/4" x 1 1/2" from end to end. It's signed on the back with "O. Panteah" and a drawing etched into the silver.

It's currently left in its vintage condition with a little patina, but it will ship with a polishing cloth in case you'd like to shine it to it's like-new luster.
