Vintage Wide Turquoise and Silver Cuff Bracelet With Tiny Silver Beads
Vintage Wide Turquoise and Silver Cuff Bracelet With Tiny Silver Beads
While its beauty is apparent for all to see, the origin of this wide silver and turquoise bracelet is a mystery, friends. It's handmade of nice, heavy silver and set with ten hand-shaped turquoise stones that sit attractively up above the cuff. Two rows of silver beads compliment the turquoise. All of these great looking attributes, and it's uncertain who created this unique piece.
The bracelet is hallmarked with a stamp that looks like an upside down horseshoe or a fancier version of the letter U. Interestingly, in Barton Wright's old standard Hallmarks of the Southwest, a similar mark appears on several different pages. On one page, a drawing of the similar mark appears with "UHLSTROM ?" as the possible designated artist. In another area, Wright indicates that "ULLSTROM, ?" is Anglo rather than Native American. Now, despite his last name, Barton WRIGHT did make some WRONG attributions, so we just don't know for sure.
The fact of the matter is, an artist used a lot of creativity bringing this lovely piece to life, and we don't know for certain who the artist was. Despite what we do not know about this mystery piece, its creator must've intended to bring more beauty and joy into the world with it. That is apparent.Â
The striking bracelet measures 5 13/16" inside plus 1" opening. The width is 1 7/16". It's from a large collection of fine Native American jewelry acquired over many decades.
