Vintage Teddy Draper Jr. Wide Silver Cuff of Spider Woman
Vintage Teddy Draper Jr. Wide Silver Cuff of Spider Woman
If you'd like a super cool, one-of-a-kind, handmade cuff that has explicit meaning behind it (AND you like spiders), this just may be your bracelet. This rare vintage bracelet by Navajo jeweler and painter Teddy Draper Jr. is set with a single spider raised above the textured band. A domed turquoise stone creates the spider's body. A single offset raised bead of coral is perfection.
Teddy Draper Jr. created this cuff in reverence to Spider Woman - not the comic book version, but the traditional Navajo version in which Spider Woman played a key role in the Navajo creation story. She taught the people to weave and servers as a spiritual guide. Her home is Spider Rock in Canyon de Chelly.Â
Teddy Draper Jr. is from Chinle, AZ at the mouth of the great Canyon de Chelly, so he was greatly impacted by Spider Woman and her nearby home.
Besides being beautiful, this bracelet is inherently powerful. Allow it to inspire you as you continually weave the web of your life.
The Spider Woman cuff measures 5 1/2" inside with a 1 1/4" opening. The cuff is 2" wide at the center point and tapers down from there. Spider Woman sits 1/2" above the cuff. The bracelet is hallmarked on the inside.
