Vintage Hopi Overlay Man In the Maze Buckle By Mark Tawahongva
The man-in-the-maze is a favorite emergence design used in Hopi overlay jewelry. This classic silver overlay buckle is a vintage "man-in-the-maze" piece created by Hopi artist Mark Tawahongva. Mark Tawahongva is an accomplished silversmith, born in the 1940's, who works in a classic Hopi overlay style using traditional motifs.
The buckle is hallmarked with an MT and a Rabbit head (because he is from the rabbit clan). The piece measures 3" x 2" and it fits a 1 3/4" belt.
