Vintage Handmade Taos Drum By Red Willow

There's just something about drums and Christmas. From a tiny pottery ornament drum to a vintage life-sized drum handmade at Taos Pueblo, both work at Christmas time to help usher in the holiday festivities. 

This drum was handmade by Red Willow of a hand carved log and hide. Martha Struever used this as part of her holiday decorations by tying a big Christmas ribbon onto it and placing it under one of her Christmas trees. How's that for a little bit of Santa Fe holiday flair!

The drum measures 7" across the surface (9" with the handle) by 6" tall. It's signed on the side and dated. It was made on July 2, 1998. It's in excellent condition with a beautiful aged patina.

The drum was displayed with an old, authentic drum beater that's sold separately. Don't forget to ask me about it because it's wonderful and also from Martha Struever's private collection.
