How sweet is this handmade vintage Christmas ornament of a Navajo hogan scene in the winter.
The Navajo folk art ornament is made of painted and carved wood, and it hangs from leather. You'll see a round hogan covered in freshly fallen snow with a green wagon out front. It's hard to see from the photo, but there are even little sparkles in the snow.Â
We can only imagine a sweet Navajo family inside staying warm by fire that's vented out the little chimney at the top of the hogan.
This charming ornament isn't something you'd pick up at World Market. It's much more special than that. It has a 2 1/2" diameter and hangs 4 1/2". Unsigned, it's by Leo Benally. From the private collection of Native American art dealer, collector and scholar Martha Struever.
