There's a plethora of lovely tourist jewelry from the Fred Harvey Era. In fact, some people love to collect many of the different designs.
This Fred Harvey Era bracelet is one that belongs in a collection for its standout look - a row of green turquoise ovals framed by a top and bottom row of perfectly symmetrical silver beads. The sides and terminals of the piece are stamped with a cool repeating pattern.Â
Back in first half of the 1900's, if you had traveled to the Southwest by railroad or car, you likely would have wanted a pretty piece of jewelry as a memento of your trip. You just might have picked out this very bracelet at your railroad hotel, restaurant, gift shop or even right by the train tracks.
Much of this Fred Harvey Era jewelry was machine made of nickel silver or copper, but this lovely bracelet is actually sterling silver and it's hallmarked as such. It is for small wrists and measures 5" inside plus a 1 1/16" opening. Width is 1/2". There are some little but secure cracks in the old stones.
This bracelet surely delighted people way back when and will continue to do so way into the future. Probably now it has even more significance.
