Vintage Bisbee Pin Pendant by Navajo Jeweler Paul Begay
Vintage Bisbee Pin Pendant by Navajo Jeweler Paul Begay
Some Native American jewelry collectors out there are just crazy about turquoise from the Bisbee mine. This vintage Navajo pin/pendant is set with just such turquoise.Â
The piece is by Navajo jeweler Paul Begay, and it holds a single elongated Bisbee turquoise stone surrounded by complex stamping and repousse.Â
You'll get mileage with this piece since it can be worn a myriad of ways as a brooch or as a pendant. If you choose to wear it as a brooch, the detachable silver bail has a large 1/2" opening, so you can wear it with your Navajo pearls, or your hanging from turquoise beads. Either way, there's lots of great looks.
Here's a way to get even more different looks with this piece: the bail attaches to the pin, so you can remove it and attach it to any other pin you might have. Think of the possibilities!
As a brooch, piece measures 2 1/2" x 1 3/8" while as a pendant with the bail included, it measures an impressive 3 1/2" long.Â
Signed on the reverse P.A. Begay.
