Vintage Beaded Black and White Thunderbird Hat Band

In the spirit of all things seed bead, beloved matron of Native American art Martha Struever kept a small stash of little hand beaded accessories in colors and/or styles that she enjoyed.

This vintage hand-stitched hat band is in a thunderbird design - a FAVORITE of tourists to the American Southwest. The hat band is done in classic black and white colors with old red and blue accents. The beads are attached to satin ribbons so that you can tie them on. 

If you don't wear hats, not to worry, you can use it as a headband too. This nostalgic piece measures a hair under 34" from end to end. It's in great vintage condition with just a little bit of frying at the end of the ribbon. It's likely Navajo made. Styles like this one were collected all along the route 66 tourist shops.
