Tufa Cast Silver Belt By Ira Custer
This silver cross belt is a little bit rock and roll and a little bit Southwest chic all in one. While the belt has a contemporary edge, it's handmade using the old, traditional technique of tufa casting.
Navajo jeweler Ira Custer etched the cross designs into tufa or volcanic rock which he had formed into molds. He then poured molten silver into the molds. Once the silver cooled, the result was these one-of-a-kind cross conchos and a larger cross buckle.
All in all, there are 14 crosses plus a buckle. The silver cross conchos each measure 1 1/2" and the buckle measures 2". Currently, the leather belt fits a 36" - 38" waist, but it could be downsized if need be. The buckle closure is a prong.
