Silver Buckle By Norbert Peshlakai "Feathered Warrior II"
Silver Buckle By Norbert Peshlakai "Feathered Warrior II"
We're pleased to present you with this cool buckle by genius Navajo jeweler Norbert Peshlakai entitled "Feathered Warrior II." The handmade textured silver buckle is slightly oxidized with a smooth silver applique head and one gold bead accent. The warrior's head has wind-blown hair with a single feather atop his head.
Interestingly, Norbert Peshlakai was influenced by the work of Pablo Picasso, and you can certainly see that with this buckle and its Picasso-like head.
The buckle dates circa 1995 and was originally in the collection of Martha Hopkins Struever until she sold it to a major Norbert Peshlakai collector in 2006. It measures 2" high x 2 3/4" wide and is hallmarked on the reverse.
This is the jewelry you will see at the Wheelwright Museum's current exhibition featuring the work of one man, Norbert Peshlakai.
