About the Piece:
This is the kind of necklace that stops people in their tracks and just asks them to comment. It's mostly because of the striking turquoise stone - it appears multi-layered and alive, almost as if you're looking into brilliant blue waters like the Great Barrier Reef. The two handmade sterling silver feather dangles bring the balance and movement that assist with that initial impact.
The necklace is by Navajo jeweler Marvin Slim, and even though it's created in a clean, contemporary style, it's now a vintage piece.
You'll want to play around with the way you wear it. Because it has a nice, large bale, you can wear it on its original chain, 1/2" Navajo pearls, smaller heishi beads, or simply a leather strap. The turquoise stone itself measures 2 1/8" x 1 3/4". While the pendant as a whole measures an impressive 4 1/2" from the top of bale to tip of feather. It's signed on the reverse.
From the fantastic collection of a dear friend from New Jersey.
