We're thrilled to actually have a Rita Joe Cordalis brooch to offer you because her work is so rare. Do a quick google search and see what you find. This pin by Rita Joe Cordalis is sheer contemporary elegance exquisitely handmade - a bottom portion of cream fossilized ivory and black ironwood mosaic angular inlay contrasted with a round single stone top portion. The setting is seamlessly done in silver.
The pin measures 2 3/4" in length and is signed on the reverse. An important estate piece. Provenance information upon request.
Rita Cordalis is a Navajo artist, one of the few Native Americans to have a Masters Degree in Museum Studies. This is significant because she brings to the field a combination of her fine artistic eye and her deep cultural understanding. It's fitting, then, that Rita Joe Cordalis' jewelry is every bit as special as those one would see in the finest contemporary art museums.
