Bears are deeply respected in Navajo culture. They represent a connection between the natural world and spiritual beliefs. They're associated with strength, courage, power, and healing. Because of their cultural and religious significance, they're also beautifully depicted in Navajo jewelry.

One such depiction is this large contemporary Navajo bear pendant by Delbert Vandever, a jeweler with a gift for creating different bear pendants. This bear is sculptural hollow form silver with beautiful stamping, texturing and a bear paw cut out. It's also set with a very nice turquoise stone up above the revered beast's body. One stamp in this bear is directly through his heart line reminding us to stay connected to our hearts and intuition.

The beautiful bear measures 2 1/4" from top of bale to 2 1/4" across. The depth is 1/4" and the bale is 1/2" x 1/4" so you can wear it with a single strand of coral tubes, heishi, small Navajo pearls or or a silver chain. If you need help picking the perfect necklace, send me an email, and I'll gladly assist.
