Mary Tafoya Pin Pendant of Colorful Inlay Flower
Mary Tafoya Pin Pendant of Colorful Inlay Flower
These days we all need to be uplifted, and sometimes the right piece of jewelry can do just that.
Mary L. Tafoya of Kewa or Santo Domingo Pueblo creates cheerful and colorful jewelry like this swirling floral pin/pendant of multi stone inlay. Her handmade mosaic inlay jewelry harkens back to early Indigenous pieces made before silver work existed, but it has a unique look all its own.Â
Wear her jewelry, and it'll captivate those who see it. One woman here in Santa Fe doesn't consider herself a "jewelry person" but she's become so taken with Mary Tafoya's creative pieces, that she's become a collector - only of Mary Tafoya's work.Â
Like a fingerprint, this handmade pin/pendant is one-of-a-kind. Mary Tafoya has cut each stone by hand and placed it to form a bold design. It's inlaid on a green serpentine backing. Measuring a little over 2" in height, it looks fantastic hanging on a necklace of micro fine heishi. Signed on the reverse.
