Did you know that Jake and Irene Livingston, the jewelers who create traditional Zuni mosaic inlay jewelry, often with bird designs, also make fine contemporary pieces like this necklace.

It's quite rare, but the husband-and-wife team has mastered both styles. Jake Livingston is Navajo/Zuni, and he does most of the metal work while his wife, Irene Owens Livingston (Zuni), collaborates with the lapidary work. Together, they've brought multiple jewelry works of art to fruition.

This Jake & Irene Livingston necklace is outstanding! Seven strands of natural red Mediterranean coral tubes are interspersed with accent beads of turquoise, coral, lapis and 14k gold. A removable sterling silver pendant is stamped with floral designs and set with a stunning elongated coral cabochon in a 14k gold bezel. The piece finishes with two sets of handmade sterling silver beads and cones.

The striking necklace can be worn multiple ways since the pendant is removable. Even without the pendant, the necklace is drop-dead gorgeous. With the pendant, it's a whole other level of greatness. You can also wear the pendant with your other beads as shown. Because of the incorporation of gold accents, the necklace can be worn seamlessly with your fine gold jewelry.

Jake and Irene Livingston's necklace is long! It measures 29 1/2" from end to end plus the 3 1/2" pendant. Still, it's an elegant size rather than some pieces comprised of large coral tubes.
