Here is a very special silver pendant that's made from a historic Navajo squash blossom. The blossom originally made its way to Turquoise & Tufa from a fine, early hand-wrought silver squash blossom necklace that was in pieces.

For decades, the Native art dealer Martha Struever kept some beautiful blossoms and beads sitting in a drawer because there weren't enough pieces to re-string an entire necklace. Marti always intended to do something with the the squash blossoms because they were so pretty.

Therefore, with Marti Struever in mind, a few of her historic blossoms have been re-imagined into new pieces of jewelry that still maintain the soulful integrity of the original piece.

With this sweet pendant, the original blossom is untouched except for lightly shaping the original bail to make it more wearable and adding a new heavy gauge silver bail. The resulting pendant is a lovely rare piece of jewelry in its own right.

The pendant has a gorgeous patina and the wonderful, distinctive marks of hand hammering. It will come to you on a 24 1/2" sterling silver chain so you can wear it as a necklace right away.

The new bail has a nice 5/8" opening allowing you to slip it over some of your favorite turquoise or coral beads.
