You can see that transformation with these contemporary earrings by Navajo jeweler L. Eugene Nelson.

Their little handmade katsina faces are completely original, whimsical yet stylish. Almost entirely made of silver, the earrings have little accents of 14k gold and Sleeping Beauty turquoise. Even the little silver dangles are stamped. Striking on, they're such a wonderful and creative depiction of a katsina figure. These are, in fact, sterling examples of when jewelry becomes art!
