Contemporary Diamond Brooch with 22kt Gold Flower By Eduardo Rubio Arzate
Contemporary Diamond Brooch with 22kt Gold Flower By Eduardo Rubio Arzate
Here is a rare contemporary brooch by the late metalsmith Eduardo Rubio-Arzate from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Eduardo Rubio-Arzate's work combines refined forms with organic shapes with a stunning result.
This brilliant handmade piece comprises a circular brooch of heavily oxidized and lightly textured sterling silver. Within the depth of the brooch sits a delicate 22kt gold flower form. A single diamond sits atop the face of the pin in a 22kt gold bezel. The resulting piece taken in its entirety is monumental despite its 1 3/4" diameter size. A depth of 3/16" is what holds the stylized flower inside the brooch. Etched on the reverse "E. Rubio A." and ".925-22kt."
We discovered Eduardo Rubio-Arzate's fine work through working with Martha Hopkins Struever. At Santa Fe Spanish Market, Marti Struever was so taken with Rubio-Arzate's work that she invited him to sell with us for several of our Indian Market shows despite the fact that he was not Native American.
Rubio-Arzate passed away much before his time, so there's just a limited amount of his jewelry available. We're so honored to be able to offer you one of his pieces.
