Book: Pueblo Shields: From the Fred Harvey Fine Arts Collection — Barton Wright

Barton Wright explores the evolution of Pueblo shields from ancient times (when they first appeared on petroglyphs) to their use in contemporary Pueblo ceremonies. He looks at the materials, construction techniques, and symbolism in their designs. He'll cover twelve different Pueblos. The book includes photographs and drawings of rare shields from the Fred Harvey Fine Arts Collection, now housed at the Heard Museum. This book is a unique reference for anyone interested in Pueblo art, history, and traditions.
