Description: This is a vintage exhibition catalog of Joseph Jacinto Mora's works exhibited at the Monterey Museum of Art. It's a "Mora-type map" and the first catalogue ever to focus on Mora's drawings, paintings and sculpture.
Who: Jo Mora lived from 1876-1947, and during the early 20th century, he captured the American frontier in his art work. He studied human and animal subjects that were inherently western.
Of particular interest to collectors of Native American art, Mora learned the Hopi and Navajo languages and was eventually adopted into both tribes. He even designed a new quail katsina after being asked by one of the Hopi leaders. You'll enjoy his paintings and sculptures of Native American subjects including katsinam.
