Did you know that turquoise and spiny oyster stones have been used in Indigenous jewelry for far longer than silver? In fact, Native American silver work is relatively new to the art of Indigenous jewelry-making.
This vintage Navajo bracelet merges old and new with its use of spiny oyster and turquoise stones combined with a silver setting. There are some nice traditional Navajo silver accents including beads, roped bezels and two stamped sections of appliqué.Â
The cuff was handmade by Navajo artist Jerry Platero, and it comes from the collection of a long-time Native jewelry aficionado.
