Vintage Manuel and Karen Hoyungowa Silver Hopi Overlay Bracelet
You simply cannot go wrong by collecting silver Hopi overlay jewelry designed with a repeating traditional motif. It's eye-catching without being over the top, and you'll return to it over and over.
This vintage Hopi overlay bracelet was handmade by Manuel Hoyungowa (1953-2011) and his wife, Karen, of Hotevilla, Third Mesa.
A master silversmith, Manuel Hoyungowa began making jewelry in the 1970's having learned from his uncle, Preston Monongye, and his studies at the Institute of American Indian Arts here in Santa Fe. Â
Manuel and Karen Hoyungowa's bracelet measures 5 1/4" inside plus 1 3/8" opening. Width is 1/2". Piece is hallmarked on the inside.
Like the artists who made it, the original collectors of this bracelet were a married couple. Therefore, one could say it's been imbued with quite a bit of love.
