Prior to the introduction of silver, Indigenous People created jewelry using turquoise and shell. Jewelers from Kewa Pueblo, otherwise known as Santo Domingo, are still masters at turquoise and shell jewelry.

This fantastic necklace is handmade by Rudy Coriz of Santo Domingo Pueblo. It's done in an original design of three multi-stone mosaic inlay feather pendants hanging from two strands of graduated turquoise beads. To make this necklace, Rudy Coriz used different lapidary techniques and hand tools to cut the turquoise and other stones and then grind and polish them.

The design of this necklace is totally eye-catching! If you style it with nothing but the simplest clothing, you'll still stand out.

It's a reminder that gorgeous, innovative jewelry exists apart from precious metals and that Indigenous People created magnificent ornaments Pre-contact. We are blessed to live in a world uplifted by their incomparable designs.

Rudy Coriz's necklace measures 20" from end to end plus the 1 3/4" feather pendants. The pendants are inlaid on thick serpentine stones. The necklace is strung on cotton string with sterling silver bead finishings. Hand engraved on the reverse with RC and a feather.
