About the Piece:

When you live in Santa Fe, New Mexico, turquoise is a way of life. It's everywhere! That leads some Santa Feans to seek out Native American jewelry made with alternative stones like this contemporary inlay pendant by Navajo jeweler Thomas Francisco.

Rather than turquoise, this oval pendant highlights the colors you find in New Mexico's rich geological formations. It's handmade of sterling silver and inlaid with jasper, tiger's eye, and onyx in sterling silver channels.

It's especially striking worn with blacks.

The Navajo pendant measures 2 5/8 from top of bale to 1 3/8". The bale is 1/2" so you can wear the pendant with Navajo silver beads that are 3/8" in diameter for an impressive combination. Signed on the reverse.

It's from the collection of my dear friend who left a corporate leadership role to work in the Santa Fe art scene including with Martha Struever. An artist herself, my friend was drawn to specific pieces because she found so much joy in their distinctiveness. She passed away in the last year, and I know she hoped that you'd share in her joy as you discover her collection.
