This is a magnificent bolo by contemporary Navajo jeweler Richard Tsosie. Richard Tsosie created this masterpiece by hand using an array of precision techniques.
Some elements of the bolo feel architectural - notice his minimalist angular inlay of sterling silver "stars" in wood. They frame two balanced interior mosaic inlay sections of square and rectangular hand cuts of coral, turquoise (from an array of different mines), and shell.
Other elements of the bolo feel more artistic. The upper portion is expressive with it's textured overlay silver design of a Native figure's head. The figure seems enchanted by a rising water bird flying up towards the moon.
The top center of the bolo draws all the elements together with a single and singular natural spiderweb turquoise stone inlaid with a tiny piece of coral. The stones is set in a narrow shadowbox setting.
You might find yourself responding with a "wow" of appreciation for Richard Tsosie's artistry and technical skill.
The keeper on this contemporary bolo is large. It measures 3 1/2" long x 2" wide. The silver frame narrows woards the bottom of the bolo. The handmade silver tips have dangling points at the end - so wonderfully extra!
Signed on the reverse, the bolo keeper is placed on a heavy duty braided black leather strap.
One more time - WOW! It's available at a very special price.
