Navajo jeweler Ira Custer is killing it with his sterling silver tufa cast jewelry. Using an old technique, Ira Custer draws designs in soft tufa stone to create a jewelry mold into which he pours molten silver. Once the silver hardens, the mold is removed to reveal a one-of-a-kind creation. You can read more about his tufa casting process here.

Ira Custer isn't the only member of the family, who makes silver tufa cast jewelry, though. He taught his two daughters, Cheyenne and Chenoa, the art of tufa casting jewelry when they were young.

This special silver lightening bolt pendant is one from the early days of Ira Custer teaching his daughters the jewelry technique. This truly one-of-a-kind pendant is somewhat imperfect - the swirling design starts out strong at the top of the pendant, while the design in the middle section is much less pronounced. It's all part of the learning process, two daughters trying their dear father's craft.

There's a lot of love, a lot of meaning in this pendant right here. So much more than a lightning bolt, the pendant is representative of the relationship between fathers and daughters and of passing the wisdom from one generation to the next.

The pendant measures 2 1/4" long from top of hook to bottom of lightning strike. It's 3/4" wide at the widest point. The piece is hallmarked with a CH. It hangs from a shepherd's hook in the back, so you can attach it to a variety of necklaces. It will be  shipped to you with a leather strap that you can tie at the length of your choice.
