Navajo Harry H. Begay Bracelet of Turquoise and Spiny Oyster
Navajo Harry H. Begay Bracelet of Turquoise and Spiny Oyster
This is the last of a large vintage Harry H. Begay jewelry collection. It's a handmade traditional row Navajo bracelet of heavy gauge silver set with 5 handsome natural stones cut into different shapes. There are two orange spiny oyster squares and three natural turquoise ovals, one of them horizontally set.
The beauty of this bracelet is deeper than the stones, though. It's also adorned with outstanding silver work including appliqué stamp work, 4 rows of twisted wire, silver beads, and top and bottom carinated silver wire. The combination of nice stones and expert silver work is what makes this cuff stand out from the rest.
It's an earlier vintage piece by Harry H. Begay circa 1990, and it was originally purchased from Teal McKibbon, a respected Santa Fe Native art dealer with a gallery on iconic Canyon Road.
Another bracelet just like this won't be easy to find! It measures 5 5/8" inside, is 3/4" wide and has a 1 3/8" opening. It is signed HHB with an arrow.
