Johnny and Marlene Rosetta Necklace 3 Strands of Natural Coral and Gold
Johnny and Marlene Rosetta Necklace 3 Strands of Natural Coral and Gold
Elegant, understated, superlative are all declarations that come to mind when describing this rare and important vintage necklace by Johnny and Marlene Rosetta of Kewa or Santo Domingo Pueblo down the highway from Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The delicate necklace is exquisitely handmade of the finest natural Mediterranean coral and 14kt gold heishi beads in 3 strands with a single turquoise accent bead. Gold cylinders hold the 3 strands together and provide a decorative hook and loop closure.
A true collector piece, a Johnny and Marlene Rosetta necklace of this caliber is especially difficult to find. Johnny passed away in 2003, so we're left with a limited body of work.
The necklace comes from the private, personal collection of Martha Hopkins Struever, who played a meaningful part in selling, collecting and researching Native American art over a 45 year period. "Marti" Struever had access to some of the finest pieces available. While she sold many pieces to very happy collectors, Marti kept the very best pieces for herself.
