About the Piece:
This contemporary Navajo cuff of sterling silver is by Albert Lee. It's one of his heaviest works—a substantial carinated piece with a satisfying weight on the wrist. A thick twisted wire rope is framed by hand-stamped details that make the cuff a honey.
Albert Lee was not only a talented silversmith, but also a generous and warm presence to those who knew him. On one memorable occasion, he and his brother hosted a dinner for one of Martha Struever’s tour groups out under the stars of Monument Valley, complete with a movie playing in the background and an elegantly set table. It was, by all accounts, the highlight of the trip.
Albert is no longer living, but pieces like this keep him with us. Like Albert Lee, the bracelet has a strong presence. It's meant to be worn and celebrated.
The bracelet measures 5 1/2" inside plus 1 3/16" gap. The width is 3/4" and the height is 3/8". Signed by Albert Lee.
