Gail Bird and Yazzie Johnson Pendant of 18kt Gold With Blister Pearl & Chrysocolla
Gail Bird and Yazzie Johnson are a pair of renowned Native American artists who create fine contemporary Native American jewelry using a combination of refined designs and extraordinary stones that tend to frequently be different from the coral, turquoise and shell typically used in traditional American Indian jewelry.Â
Their elegant pieces have a cult following among collectors of Native American art, and we're so pleased to have another one of their exceptional pendants to offer you today This particular pendant by Gail Bird and Yazzie Johnson is handmade of 18kt gold set with a blister pearl atop a triangular shaped chrysocolla stone.
Besides its striking beauty, what's even more special about this particular piece is the fact that it appears in the book "Shared Images: The Innovative Jewelry of Yazzie Johnson & Gail Bird."Â
The piece originally came from the private, personal collection of distinguished American Indian art collector, dealer and scholar Martha Hopkins Struever, who was very close friends with Yazzie Johnson and Gail Bird for many decades. What a provenance for a great piece!
The pendant is signed on the reverse. It measures 2 3/4" and it hangs from a leather strap.
