Gail Bird and Yazzie Johnson Necklace of Freshwater Biwa Pearls

This necklace is one for the books! While it's not pictured in Shared Images: The Innovative Jewelry of Yazzie Johnson and Gail Bird, it should be because it encompasses all the contemporary elegance that is Gail & Yazzie jewelry.

This single strand beauty is comprised of freshwater Biwa stick pearls that dance around the necklace like moonlight on water. Between each stick pearl is a teeny tiny round pearl. There are also 18k gold tufa cast rectangular accent bars. The color of the necklace is lustrous shades of pale pink, orange, white, cream, and gold.

Gail Bird and Yazzie Johnson are known for their exceptional clasps which are so beautiful they can be worn to the side as part of the necklace rather than hiding behind the neck. This particular clasp is set with ocean jasper and a pink pearl set in 18k gold. The back of the clasp is a gold overlay bird. 

The necklace is luxurious refinement at its best. It's begging to be worn on opening night at the Santa Fe Opera.
