Long before silver jewelry Indigenous artisans created beautiful beadwork ornamentation.

With this incredible extra wide cuff bracelet, Marcus Amerman has hand-beaded a portrait of a Native man with as much detail as a painting or even a photograph. Amerman calls his cuffs like this photorealistic portraiture.

He's able to achieve this level of detail by using teeny seed beads in an array of colors. Notice even the shading in the figure's hair. If you look closely, you'll see that sections of gray, black and even maroon beads comprise the hair alone.

Every beads is hand sewn onto a hide cuff. The overall color of the cuff is a striking red and orange with accents of yellow and even a few turquoise beads. When you put this phenomenal work of art on, you'll never want to take it off. It's super comfortable and totally head turning.

Marcus Amerman is a Choctaw artist who has been working since the 1980's in an array of mediums but best known for his "photobeadilism". In fact, the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian just completed an exhibit celebrating his artistry entitled Pathfinder: 40 Years of Marcus Amerman.

This gorgeous cuff measures 6 1/2" wide plus a 1/2" gap that is very easily adjusted since the hide is pliable unlike silver. The width is 2 1/2". Unsigned but who else in the world can bead just like this!
