Beverly Etsate Concho Belt With Inlay Kachinas
Beverly Etsate Concho Belt With Inlay Kachinas
Zuni artist Beverly Etsate has created this incredibly unique concho belt. The piece is handmade with 11 silver conchos - each is inlaid in a chunky mosaic style with a different kachina figure in addition to a single Zuni man.
On this cool belt, you will find front and side views of the following katsinas: a mudhead or Koyemsi, a Koshari clown, a long hair, a maiden, a cow, an Apache Gan dancer, and a one-horn. The larger buckle depicts a dancing mudhead and crown dancer underneath a lightning bolt striking from a thunder cloud.
Beverly Etsate usually makes smaller pin/pendants. It is rare to have an entire belt. Each concho measures 1 3/4" x 1 3/8" while the buckle measures 2 5/8" x 1 7/8". The piece is signed on the reverse. The black leather belt measures 36 1/2" long including the buckle.
