Owner of Turquoise & Tufa Showing A beautiful multi-stone inlay belt buckle by contemporary Native American jeweler Richard Chavez

Native American Jewelry Videos For the 2025 Annual Catalog

Dearest Friends,

Here's a series of casual videos from my living room, walking you through the jewelry in the 2025 edition of Turquoise & Tufa's annual 2025 catalog, page by page, to give you a better idea of the jewelry's scale and movement. I'll also share some stories with you about the jewelry, the artists, and perhaps the collector.

Also, only for the video viewers, you'll see a few extra pieces that were slated for the catalog but didn't make it in due to space constraints.

Grab a drink, make yourself comfortable, and join me as we dive into a deeper exploration of this jewelry.

If links aren't yet available for a section, they're coming as soon as I get the chance.

Thanks so much for watching!

Part 1: Cover - Page 7 We'll explore jewelry by Sonwai, Raymond Sequaptewa, Perry Shorty, Deanna Tenorio, Timmy Yazzie, Lavina Tsikewa, Liz Wallace, Richard Chavez, Gail Bird & Yazzie Johnson and a great old turquoise necklace and earlier turquoise earrings.

Part 2: Pages 8-13  We'll take a look at significant contemporary jewelry from Raymond Sequaptewa, Perry Shorty, Liz Wallace, Gail Bird & Yazzie Johnson, Jolene Eustace, L. Eugene Nelson, Norbert Peshlakai, Victor Beck, Sonwai, Preston Albert Lee, Shawn Bluejacket, and some wonderful vintage pieces by Preston Monongye and Jobeth Mayes.

Part 3: Pages 14-19 You'll discover fine jewelry by Richard Chavez, Rita Joe Cordalis, Marcus Amerman, Liz Wallace, Chris Pruitt, Perry Shorty, Kee Yazzie, Albert Lee, Percy Reano, and the Dishta family at Zuni. You'll also be wowed by some vintage and early jewelry like an old coral necklace and an early Hopi Ketoh. Sprinkled into these pages are a few whimsical art objects like an old Navajo spoon and a precious turquoise fetish.

Part 4: Pages 20-25 You'll discover significant jewelry by Frank Patania Sr., Tommy Jackson, Albert Lee, Edison Sandy Smith, Mark Chee, Terry Reano, Perry Shorty, Victor Beck, Ray and Mary Rosetta. You'll also see an award-winning necklace by L. Eugene Nelson. Some great vintage and early necklaces. Those of you who fell in love with last year's Lavina Tsikewa fetish necklace will be pleased to see that there's ANOTHER very similar necklace by Lavina. In fact, it was made in the same time period with the same great old heishi. There's also a wonderful spiny oyster Kewa necklace like the one on the cover of Paula Baxter's book on Pueblo beads.

Part 5: Pages 25-32 We'll finish out the catalog with another precious Lavina Tsikewa necklace, some beautiful bead earrings that are likely Mary Marie Yazzie's, a stunner of a big necklace by Andy Cadman (you'll want to see the size of this one!), more L. Eugene Nelson, more Frank Patania Sr., a reversible Philander Begay necklace on beads (so good), a Lyndon Tsosie ring with a stone that will make your heart pitter patter, Keri Ataumbi bangles, Albert Lee Coral, an earlier Hopi overlay buckle by Robert Lomadapki, two fabulous Anthony Lovato pieces, some hair ornaments, and three more wonders from Martha Struever's private collection - lovely early buttons, a great steer head spoon, and a fantastic creature canteen Marti attributed to Nampeyo. The back cover shows the reverse of L. Eugene Nelson's show stopping necklace and a precious grandmother pendant.
