“Awaken to the universe’s simple gift of the butterfly. Watch with fascination and joy as a jeweled treasure glides by and gently touches your soul.”
-Kristen D’Angelo, author
This vintage Mexican silver butterfly necklace will capture your heart. It's literally a jeweled treasure that's hand set with turquoise, coral and amethyst stones. Little turquoise drops dance from below the butterfly's wings to give a sense of movement like fluttering flight.
The delicately textured detail work of this necklace is much like the baroque style of Matilde Eugena Poulat, a renowned artist in Mexico City who created MATL, her silversmith operation, in 1934. Even the stones used in this ornate butterfly are much like the combinations Matilde Poulat used in her exquisite jewelry.
The piece is stunning on, and it looks beautiful combined with some of your Native American jewelry.
Dimensions: Butterfly necklace measures 17 1/2" from end to end and the dazzling center butterfly pendant measures 1 3/4" x 1 3/4".
It's signed on the reverse "AA" "925" and "TA-35" which means it was created in Taxco, Mexico by the 35th silversmith with the Initial "A" to register his mark.
