Vintage Heishi Necklace With Coral Tulip By Joe B. Reano and Briana Reano
Vintage Heishi Necklace With Coral Tulip By Joe B. Reano and Briana Reano
This vintage two-strand necklace is a little treasure. Precious as can be, the story behind it is heart-warming too.
The necklace is completely handmade by Joe B. Reano of Kewa Pueblo (Santo Domingo). As you may know, Joe B. Reano is one of the only remaining jewelers to make his beads entirely by hand in the old style without using any power tools. It's a painstaking process, and he has won multiple awards. He often works with his wife, Terry, however, this particular necklace is made by Joe B. Reano and his granddaughter, Briana Reano. How special is that!
Also, unique to this necklace: it is strung with a single darling tulip bead handmade by Joe B. Reano of peach coral.Â
Here's to grandfathers and their granddaughters! Wouldn't this be a great gift from grandfather to granddaughter or even just worn as a memorial of your own special relationship with your grandfather?
The necklace measures 24" from end to end and is signed on the sterling silver cones - one cone stamped with Joe's Initials and the other stamped with Briana's initials.
