Small Silver Pin With Red Coral By Frank Patania Sr.
While Frank Patania Sr. is not Native American, his jewelry is highly collectible by those fond of American Indian art because he owned the Thunderbird Shop in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which opened in 1927 and employed many Native jewelers.
Frank Patania's own jewelry is clean and modern in style. Just as his jewelry was influenced by the use of traditionally Native American materials like turquoise and coral, his designs were highly influential to those who worked in his Thunderbird Shop, most notably, Julian Lovato.
This little pin is classic Frank Patania Senior. The silver piece is set with 3 natural red Mediterranean coral cabs balanced by the placement of four silver beads adjacent to the coral cabs.
The pin is signed with Frank Patania Sr's hallmark along with the Thunderbird Shop hallmark. It measures 1 1/4" in diameter. It would also make a beautiful little pendant. If you'd like a pendant, we're happy to assist you in that process.
