Abraham Begay Necklace of Overlay Silver Set With Boulder Opal

Contemporary Navajo jeweler Abraham Begay has a command of many different jewelry styles including overlay and inlay. We adore this particular necklace by Abraham with its fabulous pendant of a fine natural boulder opal stone seemingly floating inside a free-form silver overlay border. In a forward-thinking design move, Abraham left the back of the opal to show through the reverse of the pendant.

The piece is large. It's bold, and we think it's our favorite Abraham Begay piece ever!

The pendant measures a full 3 5/8" long x 2 1/4" wide. It hangs from a handmade adjustable chain. The piece is signed on the reverse and dates from 1990.
