Contemporary Navajo Lightning Buckle With Inlay Lapis

This contemporary Navajo silver buckle is striking on! When worn on a black belt, the unique piece is dressy as can be. The unique piece has a silver overlay lightning border around a blue as can be raised rectangular channel inlay lapis design. The repeating jagged lightning pattern contrasts wonderfully against the elongated lapis rectangles of varying sizes.

From a private collection, the buckle was purchased in Santa Fe during the early 1990's. It measures 3" x 2" and fits a 1 1/2" belt. It's signed on the reverse with a sterling stamp and a "V" hallmark. It's possibly the work of a Vandever family member.
